BUJUMBURA, 7th (ABP) – Members of parliament met in plenary session at the Kigobe hemicycle on Monday 3 June 2024 to elect a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
Commissioner Sélemani Mossi was elected with 86 votes out of 119. El hadj Haruna Nkunduwiga received 31% and Pierre Claver Kazihise 0%.
Before the vote, each candidate presented their CV and their contribution to the work of the TRC.
According to the President of the National Assembly, Gélase Daniel Ndabirabe, the election was organised to replace the late Kajandi Sadiki Abdallah, who was a member of the TRC.
