KARUSI, June 7th (ABP) – Maize growers have welcomed the information about the resumption by the National Food Security Stock Management Agency (ANAGESSA) of buying maize grains.

After that announcement made last week, the farmers flocked to the usual stocks since Monday, June 3, to bring their harvest. It was desolation when the services of the Provincial Office of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock (BPEAE) had reported, towards the end of April, the cessation of maize purchases following the lack of storage warehouses which had all become full. A happy announcement has scheduled the resumption, since Monday, June 3, 2024, and the response was immediate, which satisfied the director of BPEAE, Mr. Jean Séverin Sinzobatohana.

For the Buhiga commune alone, huge quantities were sold, i.e., 390,003 tons for the day of Monday, June 3 and 150 tons for the day of Tuesday, June 4. That activity continued on Wednesday, June 5 with significant quantities in Buhiga as in Bugenyuzi, according to the reports.
