BEIJING, March 16 (ABP) – “China is endeavoring to build itself into a stronger country and rejuvenate the Chinese nation on all fronts by pursuing Chinese modernization. The modernization that we are pursuing is not for China alone, but for all developing countries thanks to our joint efforts,” Prof. Dr. Wang Yiwei quoted President Xi Jinping. It was Wednesday March 13, 2024 when he shared the content of the Initiative to build a global community with shared future for mankind with foreign journalists.
In his speech delivered on October 18, 2023 on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, noted that global modernization must be pursued to enhance peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation and bring prosperity to all.
China will work with all parties involved to deepen the Belt and Road cooperation partnerships, usher this cooperation into a new stage of high-quality development, and make relentless efforts to achieve modernization for all countries, President Xi Jinping said.
In his presentation on building an international community with shared future for humankind under the theme “From Chinese Modernization to Global Modernization for All”, Prof. Dr. Wang told the foreign press that building a community with a shared future for mankind is in essence to connect the prospects and destinies of every nation and country closely together.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has put forward the initiative of jointly building a community with a shared future for mankind and an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity, Prof. Dr. Wang continued to reveal.
In building such a community, he explained, the pathway is promoting global governance that features extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit; the guiding principle is to apply the common values of humanity; the basic underpinning lies in building a new type of international relations; the strategic guidance comes from the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative; and the platform for action is high- quality Belt and Road cooperation. ” On this basis, we seek to bring countries together to meet challenges and achieve prosperity for all, and usher in a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress for our world “, he reassured.
Prof. Dr. Wang also highlighted that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a vivid example of building a global community of shared future, and a global public good and cooperation platform provided by China to the world.
Since introducing the BRI ten years ago, based on extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefits, China has pursued open, green, clean, and high- standard cooperation to promote sustainable development and improve people’s lives, and advanced high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, he added.
In the same lines of ideas, he enumerated the eight major measures that China will take to support the joint pursuit of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, such as building a multidimensional Belt and Road connectivity network; supporting an open world economy; carrying out practical cooperation; promoting green development; advancing scientific and technological innovation; supporting people-to-people exchanges; promoting integrity-based Belt and Road cooperation; and strengthening institutional building for international Belt and Road cooperation.
As for the principle of Chinese modernization, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that achieving common prosperity is a defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In advancing modernization, he stressed, China adheres to the people-centered philosophy, takes active moves to address the problems of regional development gaps, urban-rural gaps, and income gaps, and seeks to promote social fairness and justice, bring prosperity to all step by step, and prevent polarization.
Prof. Dr. Wang revealed that Chinese modernization is rooted in their national conditions and also draws on the experience of other countries. It carries the imprint of history and traditional culture and also contains modern elements. It delivers benefit to the Chinese people and also advances common development of the world. ” It is a sure path for us to build a stronger nation and realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is also a path we must take to seek progress for humanity and harmony for the entire world”, he underlined.
He took the opportunity to encourage other countries to respect their traditional culture, without forgetting to learn from others and finally translate lessons into actions. “Do not underestimate the dreams of others, rather seek to connect with them to help one another,” he provided advice.
According to him, industry is the pillar of the economy, finance is the lifeblood of the modern economy and infrastructure connectivity is the cornerstone of development. China is experiencing rapid economic growth thanks to hard work, he revealed.
Responding to related questions, Prof. Dr. Wang Yiwei pointed out that reading, learning and education can change the living conditions when properly interpreted. He said China suffered in the past, hence it had to learn from others to change the living conditions of its people without copying and pasting; rather, it integrated learning into its traditional culture based on three fundamental questions: “Where do we come from?
