People are called on to be actively involved in safeguarding peace and security

CANKUZO March 12th (ABP) – The governor of Cankuzo province (eastern Burundi), Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, was last week at Rujungu village in Kigamba commune where he held a security meeting to reassure the population of the place, after a grenade was thrown into the family of a certain Jean-Marie Habogorimana from the said village, bordering Tanzania.

Governor Banyiyezako recalled that the illegal possession of firearms is prohibited, and that anyone caught in possession of these weapons will be severely punished.

That provincial authority urged anyone who holds weapons to hand them over to the police without conditions.

At a time when, according to various sources, the criminal aims to kill the head of the family Jean Marie Habogorimana, Governor Banyiyezako recommended the continuation of investigations to arrest the criminal. He also called on the entire population to become actively involved in safeguarding peace and security.

The local administration must always monitor the coming and going movements, further recommended the provincial governor, inviting all administrative officials to be aware of each foreign person in the locality and know their objective.

The provincial governor took the opportunity to call on the people to avoid fetishism, cases of theft and instead be characterized by love and engage in self-development work in order to build a peaceful and peaceful community.
