Safeguarding peace and security must be everyone’s business

BUBANZA March 2nd (ABP) – The Prime Minister of the Republic of Burundi, Gervais Ndirakobuca, met on February 27, 2024 in Gihanga commune (north-west of Burundi), the defense and security corps, as well as the administrative staff of Bubanza, Cibitoke and Bujumbura provinces. They discussed strategies for safeguarding security, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In his introductory remarks, Mr. Ndirakobuca indicated that that meeting was organized after the disruption of security, with deaths, on the night of February 25, in Buringa in Gihanga commune. He calls for the proper functioning of the joint security committees, and to double vigilance so that security is a reality. That especially since security remains a major pillar of development and increased production, which will make it possible to achieve the vision of emerging Burundi in 2040 and a developed country in 2060, he continues.

At the end of the meeting, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s office, Moïse Nkurunziza, in the interview given to journalists, indicated that the strategies that have been taken will be beneficial, especially to the inhabitants of the communes Mutimbuzi, Gihanga, Buganda and Rugombo, bordering the Rukoko nature reserve and Rusizi, with regard to the protection of peace and security.
