GITEGA January 17th (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, welcomed the project currently being developed relating to the manufacture of various products from white sorghum called “Urubere” in Kirundi which will soon be introduced in Burundi by the company JitMat.
It was Friday January 12, 2024, in Gitega (central Burundi), in an exchange session with pig breeders from across the country with a view to encouraging them.
The Minister of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, Mr. Prosper Dodiko, who presented the members of that society to the President of the Republic, indicated that that society will be of capital importance for the country because, he said, it will manufacture motor oil, sugar and various nutritional concentrates for domestic animals.
Minister Dodiko also reported that that company will carry out its work in the Nyamuswaga marsh, in Muyinga province. She will give farmers white sorghum seeds and buy their crops so that every mouth has something to eat and every pocket has money.
The Managing Director of the JitMat Company, Mr. Moller David, indicated that that company was created in 2016 and operates in several countries around the world, in different sectors such as agriculture, construction, oil sales, and the supervision of people in the field of economics. He said that that society puts forward the integral development and well-being of the population. Mr. Moller pointed out that not all the quantity of sugar produced will be consumed by the population and that the remaining quantity will be sold outside the country to provide Burundi with foreign exchange.
As for future prospects, the Managing Director of the JitMat company revealed that the latter plans to build an international university in Muyinga, help the people of Buhumuza to develop through several projects, develop and increase production from the industries of JitMat, provide the country with foreign currency through the export of goods, and help the population to transform agricultural production in a modern way.
The President of the Republic welcomed them to contribute to the transformation of emerging Burundi in 2040 and developed Burundi in 2060.
