Burundi takes issue with any terrorist act, says the President of the Republic

GITEGA, December 26th (ABP) – Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye received in audience, on Friday December 22, 2023, at the presidential palace of Gitega (center of the country), the special envoy of the President of Israel, Dr. Ron Adam, the spokesperson for the President of the Republic of Burundi, Mrs. Rosine Guilène Gatoni, told the press.

Mrs. Gatoni specified that the special envoy of the Israeli President was carrying a message which demonstrated Israel’s interest in supporting the development of Burundi, in particular, and of Africa, in general, in the sectors of agriculture and education innovation.

On that subject, Dr. Ron Adam announced the project to open a science, technology, engineering and mathematics center within the University of Burundi called “System center”. Israel still has an ambition to open a second center, in Gitega, the political capital of the country; Mrs. Gatoni continued to tell the press.

In addition to the above, the spokesperson for the Burundian President indicated that the two persons high in authority held discussions on issues relating to security. Faced with the security troubles that Israel is going through, President Ndayishimiye reaffirmed the position of the Burundian government to oppose any terrorist act, any war or any act that could cause bloodshed, said Mrs. Gatoni, adding that President Ndayishimiye expressed his condolences to the affected families and reiterated his support and his desire to consolidate bilateral relations of cooperation between Burundi and Israel, through different sectors of cooperation for the general interest of their mutual peoples.
