BUJUMBURA December 10th (ABP) – The First Lady of Burundi, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, received in audience, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in Bujumbura, Mr. Elijah Onyeagba, Ambassador of the Republic of Nigeria to Burundi together with his wife, Udo Onyeagba.

After that audience, the executive secretary at the Office of the First Lady for Development (OPDD), Mr. Jean Bosco Girukwishaka said that the ambassador was coming to bid farewell to the first lady, given that he is finishing his mission to Burundi.

In addition, he specified, it was an opportunity offered to the ambassador to congratulate the First Lady for various interventions that she carries out for the well-being of the population, more particularly for women, children and the elderly. He did not forget to salute the prize awarded that year by the United Nations.

Mr. Girukwishaka indicated that the ambassador also presented his various interventions in Burundi, in particular his efforts to promote investment between the two countries, which was also the origin of the strengthening of the bilateral relationship. According to him, the ambassador also spoke of his contribution, more particularly that of his wife, in the program to combat malnutrition where she introduced a porridge which is used in Nigeria, made of maize and sorghum, and machines which help in the production of flour based on that porridge. A group of Burundians and Nigerians were trained in the manufacture of that product, he reported. They are committed to continuing to support that program remotely. The First Lady, for her part, wished them good luck for the rest of their agenda.
