The 28th conference of the East Africa Law society has been held

BUJUMBURA, November 24th (ABP) – The Bars of Burundi associated with all the Bars of the East African Community, began, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, the activities marking the 28th annual conference of the East Africa Law Society (EALS), with a view to discussing themes relating to law, under the theme “One region, one people, the role of law and the legal profession in defining the future of the East Africa.

In an interview given to the press, the president and barrister of the Bujumbura Order, Maître Jean de Dieu Muhuzenge, indicated that the activities of that Wednesday concern the registration of participants from the countries of the East African community. These include Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan, Uganda, Zanzibar and the DRC.

He pointed out that this conference is of paramount importance because it will allow judges to know the different international texts so that justice is reliable and complies with different legal texts. He added that Burundian lawyers and judges find an opportunity to have a relationship with others in the East African Community and to learn about good practice on respect for the law, on the rule of law and on the respect for human rights.

Furthermore, lawyers and judges from the countries present will have the opportunity to maintain relations and will be able to cooperate in their activities in the future.

The solemn opening of that conference will take place on Friday, November 24, 2023 while the general assembly will take place on November 25, 2023, in Bujumbura, the economic capital of Burundi. That general assembly will be devoted to the presentation of annual achievements and challenges encountered.
