BUJUMBURA, November 23rd (ABP) – The President of the Republic of Burundi and chairman of the council of elders of the CNDD-FDD party, Evariste Ndayishimiye honored with his presence, on Thursday, November 17, 2023, in Bujumbura, the ceremonies marking the celebration of the week dedicated to the heroes of the fight for peace and democracy, former fighters of the CNDD-FDD party in order to pay tribute to them.
In his speech, the Burundi Head of State thanked the Almighty who protected those heroes during that difficult period. He pointed out that have will have to remember those very difficult moments and decide not to return to such a situation.
On that occasion, President Ndayishimiye reminded the participants that the country currently has two enemies, namely poverty and injustice, which must be fought to build a better Burundi. The Head of State thus indicated that the enemy of the country is characterized, among other things, by corruption, the embezzlement of State funds, and injustice. He said that every citizen must enjoy their rights in matters of justice. He reminded leaders of being models.
As for the secretary general of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Reverien Ndikuriyo, he recalled that November 16 of each year is an important date for this party, recalling that it was November 16, 2023 that the ceasefire was signed, in Dar-Es-Salam. Mr. Ndikuriyo called on the people of Burundi to maintain peace and fight against anything that could destabilize the country.
As part of maintaining peace, the secretary general of the ruling party indicated that this political party has organized noble work for the heroes of the struggle, that of building them houses, at the rate of 100 houses per year which will be distributed starting with the most vulnerable. He invited everyone to contribute to the success of that activity. He pointed out that there are charitable people who have already donated iron sheets to support the said work.
