BUJUMBURA, November 16th (ABP) – The first lady of Burundi, Angeline Ndayishimiye, received in audience, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Bujumbura, Mr. Michaël Wimmer, ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Burundi.
In his interview with the press after the audience, Ambassador Wimmer said that he came to congratulate the first lady for her commitment to the social sector, particularly with regard to women’s rights and female leadership. “It was also an opportunity to remind her of Belgium’s commitment, in partnership with Burundi, to good collaboration for development”.
The ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium announced the upcoming launch of a new development program, particularly in the area of health in which the first lady’s foundation is involved.
They also discussed this country’s commitment to the issue followed by the first lady of Burundi, concerning obstetric fistula, an issue which also concerns women’s rights and public health. They also spoke of the desire to strengthen collaboration between Belgium and Burundi.
