BUJUMBURA November 6th (ABP) – The director general of the Burundian standardization and quality control office (BBN), Mr. Séverin Sindayikengera, carried out a working descent to the port of Bujumbura on Thursday, November 2, 2023, to proclaim the results of analysis of 600 tons of cement bags manufactured by the Chinese company “Great Lakes Company” carried out by the BBN and OBUHA.

In a lively press briefing after that visit, the Director General of the BBN recalled that on September 25 of that year, the BBN took the decision to suspend the marketing of cement produced by the Great Lakes Company because the BBN had found that that company falsified the results of the OBUHA laboratory.

After 28 days of analysis of the sample taken from 600 tons of cement from that company stored at the port of Bujumbura, the BBN found that the cement from Great Lakes Company complied with standards and gave permission to market it. On that occasion, he recalled that the BBN has taken other decisions, in particular the ban on the use of recovery bottles which do not comply with standards. In that regard, he invited the Burundians to respect quality standards because sanctions will be observed against people who do not respect them.
