Presentation of certificates to the 8th promotion of the “Twese Mw’iterambere” training center

BUJUMBURA October 17th (ABP) – The association “Youth Gathering for Socio-economic Development”, RAJEDES Burundi, in collaboration with the partner association Great Lakes Outreache (GLO) proceeded, Thursday, October 12, 2023, in Muha commune, from the town hall of Bujumbura, at the delivery of certificates at the end of the 4-month training course, to the 14 winners of the 8th promotion of the “Twese Mw’iterambere” training Center.

On this occasion, the legal representative of RAJEDES, Mr. Prosper Kwizera, indicated that since its opening on March 15, 2021, the “Twese Mw’iterambere” training center has quickly established itself as an essential address for young people and women, looking for apprenticeship and professional training.

The center’s initiative aims to empower young people and women by providing them with the means to learn different trades, with a view to reducing the unemployment rate which affects them disproportionately, he revealed.

Mr. Kwizera added that 9 of the 14 certified took training in sewing, 3 in hairdressing and the others came from elsewhere to complete their internships in this training center.

 

He emphasized that sewing learner’s benefit from a comprehensive program that covers all the essential sewing skills and basic techniques to creating the most complex designs. They were guided by experienced trainers who help them develop their creativity and technical know-how. This training center is not only limited to sewing, but also offers other professional training including hairdressing, soap making and culinary arts, he continued.

He also pointed out that management in training centers like that of RAJEDES faces many challenges, such as the lack of equipment used to teach trades and sometimes the abandonment of learners linked to poor working conditions.

He appealed to anyone who wants to support young people to lend their support because, according to him, this center contributes a lot in the fight against unemployment.

In turn, Emmanuel Nkurunziza who had represented the administrator of the Muha commune in this activity, appreciated the work of RAJEDES Burundi in the fight against unemployment and support for the development of young people, and asked them to never give up, rather to follow and guide their learners even after the training, to ensure that they are applying what they have learned.

He advised the certified ones not to keep their certificates and sit back, rather honor them with good work using their skill learned in this training center.

Mr. Nkurunziza also indicated that the collaboration between the associations and the Muha commune is good, because, he revealed, the commune facilitates them with regard to authorizations and gives them advice, if necessary. He recommended to the population of the Muha Commune, in general and to young people in particular, learning trades for their development and that of the Commune.
