KARUSI September 5th (ABP) – The archbishop of the Catholic diocese of Gitega, Mgr. Bonaventure Nahimana, honored with his presence on September 3, 2023, the enthronement ceremonies of the priest of the sacred heart parish of Karusi, Father Wilson Nkurunziza, in replacement of the late priest Father Albert Nkurunziza who died in July 2023.
The giving of the stole, the oil for the sacrament of baptism, the sacrament of confirmation, that for catechumens and for the anointing of the sick, the Bible, the code of canon law, the keys to the main door of the church, those of the bell and the tabernacle marked the main phase of the inauguration.
Just after the homily, the reading of the letter of appointment of the new priest and the swearing-in, the amazed Christians of the Sacred Heart parish of Karusi attended with surprise the inauguration procedures for the position of priest.
“The priest we need is one who has understood the mission of a good shepherd, one who has agreed to carry his cross and who has internalized the calling of the Lord: to multiply his sheep and enjoy this prosperity,” Archbishop Nahimana said.
The new priest promised to take the example of his elders and initiate activities promoting spiritual, economic and social development in his parish.
Governor Dévote Nizigiyimana was satisfied with the good collaboration with all the churches, particularly that of the Catholic Church. She promised her moral, physical and material support for that parish.
