BUJUMBURA August 16th (ABP) – The Association of Sports Journalists of Rwanda within AJSPOR were in Burundi, during the weekend of August 11 to 13, 2023, at the invitation of the Association of Sports Journalists of Burundi within the AJSB. A friendly match opposed the two associations at the National Technical Center of the FFB. The match ended in a goalless score (0-0). After the match, Mrs. Liliane Nshimirimana, chairperson of the AJSB, made it known that by inviting their Rwandan counterparts, it was within the framework of consolidating the friendship and the brotherhood between the journalists of the two countries which have the sport in common.

The last two meetings, respectively in Burundi and Rwanda, date back to 2014. When more than two weeks ago, fellow sports journalists from the DRC in South Kivu visited Burundi.

The AJSB chairperson informed that meetings had been suggested at the same time with the colleagues of the three countries namely Burundi, Rwanda and the DRC within the same framework of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood.

Speaking on behalf of AJSPOR, Mr. Jean Butoyi, chairman of the Association of Sports Journalists of Rwanda, said that playing a friendly match is not the only objective. For him, discussing and exchanging on the experiences of each other, on the common challenges of the profession, is a good opportunity. He expressed his satisfaction with the welcome they received in Burundi.

Speaking about the triangular project of meetings between colleagues within the sports associations of the three countries mentioned above, Mr. Butoyi indicated that this is another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship. He suggested preparing that event in Bujumbura, while indicating that AJSPOR will be there.
