The First Lady of Burundi has received in audience the representative of the WFP in Burundi

BUJUMBURA July 7th (ABP) – Burundi First Lady Angeline Ndayishimiye received in audience, on Thursday July 6, 2023 in Bujumbura, Mr. Housainou Taal, the representative of the World Food Program in Burundi, who came to bid farewell to her, at the end of his term.

In an interview given to the press after the audience, Housainou indicated that he had just met the First Lady to say goodbye to her and thank her for the work carried out together with the WFP and the Office of the First Lady for the Development in Burundi (OPDD) especially in the context of school feeding. According to him, the First Lady has helped a lot in that sector to such an extent that, today, there are six hundred and fifty thousand students who eat at school thanks to the contribution of the government and other donors. These donors include the World Bank (WB), Germany, the Netherlands and many other countries that are involved in school feeding.

He indicated that visits abroad, particularly to Benin and Senegal, have been organized in order to see what is being done in other places in the field of school feeding.

He further underlined that school feeding requires at the same time an integrated coordination and approach. On this, he added, the Burundi First Lady helped on this coordination and integration with the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Health and the Fight against AIDS and the Ministry of National Solidarity, Social Affairs, Human Rights and Gender.
