BUJUMBURA June 23rd (ABP) – A national thanksgiving crusade, on the occasion of the celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the inauguration of the President of the Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye, was opened on Wednesday, June 21 2023, in Maramvya zone, Mutimbuzi commune in Bujumbura province (western Burundi).

For four days, the presidential family as well as senior State officials and the people will pray and praise God for his grace.

The ceremonies began at 10 a.m. with Mass at the Maramvya Catholic Church, which was officiated by the Archbishop of Bujumbura, Gervais Banshimiyubusa, who first congratulated President Ndayishimiye for his three years in office and told him that the number three is a lucky number, a blessing number. Bishop Banshimiyubusa encouraged President Ndayishimiye to move forward with his plans for the development of the country.

The ceremonies continued on the ground of the 13th crossroads of Maramvya where the participants listened to the preaching by Mrs. Denise Nkurunziza. She called on Burundians to fight against divisions of all kinds, to be united, to favor unity in the action. She said that we need one another, we must support one another, we must support the arms of the president when he raises the command stick, so that he succeeds in the country’s projects.

The President of the Republic indicated that his first year in power was like baptism, the second year taught him while the 3rd year is a success. According to him, a rope woven into three components cannot be broken easily. He said that God showed the Burundians that he is God, he sent the Holy Spirit so that we understand the grace, we prayed to him and he protected us against the Coronavirus. He has been alongside Burundians in several circumstances, according to President Ndayishimiye.

He pointed the finger at the leaders who indulge in economic embezzlement, sexual vagrancy and other evils, calling on them to pull themselves together so as not to bring the curse on them and on the country.

His teachings were made up of the testimonies drawn from the letter that Saint Paul addressed to the Corinthians.

Indeed, President Ndayishimiye pointed out that without unity in action to erect a personality on the international scene, Burundi will not be a good country to live in.

He informed the participants that he is delighted to have been the first president to be sworn in before the Almighty and implored him to continue to guide him in his actions, and expressed confidence that he will do it. “I am surprised to hear that there are leaders who still resort to traditional healers when they have put themselves before God, I reassure them that they will perish”, the Head of State said.

He reassured that all problems will be solved by the Almighty, tomorrow will be better than today, he said.

He urged Burundians in general and the people of Bujumbura province in particular, to celebrate that anniversary with joy. “I am delighted because the Mukike commune has honored me. This commune which was once poor has now achieved prosperity, thanks to agriculture and livestock”, he revealed.

The President of the Republic thanked his Vice President Prosper Bazombanza, with whom he has just walked together, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the President of the Senate for their frank collaboration, and others.

He recommended to all Burundians to work in love, putting God in front, and everything will be fine, he insisted.
