The Prime Minister returned from Italy

BUJUMBURA April 30th ABP) – The Prime Minister of Burundi, Mr. Gervais Ndirakobuca returned to the country on Friday April 28, 2023 from Italy.

In a lively press briefing on his arrival, the Prime Minister said he was satisfied with this visit to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He said that this visit was crowned with success because it was an opportunity to meet the head of the Italian parliament to discuss how to improve the field of agriculture, livestock and industry between the two countries because , pointing out, that they have found that Italy has developed through this area.

They further discussed about the war going on in eastern DRC. The head of the Italian parliament assured, according to the Prime Minister, that they will make efforts together so that the East of the DRC is quiet.

The Burundian prime minister asked his host to open the Italian embassy here in Burundi, which was accepted. He did not fail to urge Italian businessmen to come and invest in Burundi.

Mr. Ndirakobuca also specified that the Burundian delegation visited the IFAD fund. The observation was that the relationship between this institution and Burundi is good because it has normally paid its contribution. This visit was an opportunity to thank IFAD because it has just disbursed 3 million dollars to support the government of Burundi.

The visit was also an opportunity to meet farmers and share good practices, according to the Prime Minister, where there were farmers who grow vegetables in their homes without using land.

Mr. Ndirakobuca is also delighted that a Burundian businessman has been able to win a contract with an Italian company that will provide him with selected seeds here in Burundi. The same businessman has also signed a contract with a Dutch company that manufactures veterinary drugs, and will be able to pay at the end of the year.
