BUJUMBURA April 30th (ABP) – The Technical Committee of African Revenue Authorities held a meeting on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in Bujumbura, to discuss the challenges encountered in the work and the integrity of employees.

In his speech, the Commissioner of Internal Taxes of the Burundian Revenue Office (OBR), Mr. Frédéric Manirambona, indicated that this meeting brings together the countries of the East African Community (EAC) with the aim of discussing the challenges faced with integrity in the workplace.

In relation to ethics and integrity, he indicated that recommendations will be issued during that meeting where general commissioners will draw up a plan of action and implementation by the tax administrations meeting within the East African Community, he added.

With regard to integrity, he indicated that the EAC countries share the same values, the same practices and the same customs, because, when the personnel of this administration participate in a meeting, it is for them the occasion to exchange experience and analysis of all the reports of previous meetings and to see what has been implemented, in order to issue other future recommendations, while considering the realities of the moment.

He pointed out that this integrity manifests itself through staff with integrity. The illustrative case of this integrity is the employer of the OBR who executes his specifications concerning the collection of revenues with honesty and professionalism in his field of intervention, according to Mr. Manirambona
