GITEGA March 25th (ABP) – The Minister of the East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture, Ezéchiel Nibigira, organized, in Gitega (political capital of the country), from March 23 to 24, 2023, the national youth conference.
That event held under the theme “Young people, let’s change the mentality to prepare for a better future”, was attended by parliamentarians, executives in the Office of the President of the Republic of Burundi, ambassadors accredited to Burundi, provincial governors, communal administrators as well as young people from all over the country.
In his speech for the occasion, the minister responsible for youth said that this event is held every year with the intention of sensitizing the youth to take the lead in the path of development. There is no doubt that young Burundians will achieve their goal because their leader, that is, Burundi Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye, is a declared friend of young people. He added that he is imbued with a desire to create a better place for young people.
Moreover, he said that this event is held in a particular context of Burundi. For more precision, he recalled the recent places of choice that President Ndayishimiye won within the African Union and in the Community of East African States. Minister Nibigira congratulated the government of Burundi for initiating financial institutions to support young people in their projects. He mentioned in particular the BIJE (investment bank for young people), the PAEEJ (economic empowerment and employment program for young people) and the BIDF (investment bank for the development of women).
In his welcoming remarks, the governor of Gitega province, Venant Manirambona, praised the young people of his constituency for their innovative spirit. Particularly at the Polytechnic University of Gitega (UPG), Mr. Manirambona expressed his words of congratulations for its methodological approach of marrying theory to practice. This is effective because at the end of the course the graduates manage to self-create employment, he explained. After all those communications, the young people who stand out in entrepreneurship shared their experiences with the audience.
