BUJUMBURA/GITEGA February 24th (ABP) – The ecumenical prayer of thanksgiving within the CNDD-FDD party organized every last Thursday of the month, took place on February 23, 2023, at the national office located in Bujumbura and in Gitega province under the theme “Umushumba w’umwizigirwa ahimbara abiwe kandi agashimirwa na shebuja”, drawn from the book of Luke chapter 12 from verse 35 to 47.

In Bujumbura, the President of the Republic of Burundi, at the same time Chairman of the Council of Elders within the CNDD-FDD party, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Angeline Ndayishimiye, were present in that prayer.

Taking the floor, President Ndayishimiye said that this prayer is an opportunity to give thanks to the Almighty God for all his benefits for the country and its leaders during the month of February 2023.

He also thanked the Lord for the good deeds that marked the month of February. This is, among others, his visit to Ethiopia where he participated in the 36th Summit of AU Heads of State and Government and took part in the first general assembly of youth, and participation in the 20th Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the East African Community held in Bujumbura.

He took that opportunity to invite the Bagumyabanga to remain united and continue the path of bringing the country to development, while adding that they must believe in God in difficult times because, he said, the future is good.

President Ndayishimiye also thanked the Bagumyabanga for their return to community development work and asked them to clean their homes and even in the various public markets so that the country would be clean.

He also called on the Bagumyabanga to be patient, relying on three things: belief, trust and love.

The President of the Republic took the opportunity to invite all Burundians, in these days of Lent, to walk humbly with the Almighty and never forget where they came from so that they can thank God through good deeds. He asked them to pray a lot, to fast and to have love for others.

The Secretary General of the ruling party, Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo, for his part, asked the Bagumyabanga to work together in cooperatives in order to support the sustainable development of the country. “God showered Burundi with more blessings this February,” he concluded.

In Gitega province, on the occasion of an ecumenical prayer organized every last Thursday of the month, the provincial secretary of the CNDD-FDD party, Mr. Georges Nshimirimana, also glorified the Almighty for the benefits showered in Burundi during the month of February”.

Indeed, “Burundi gained fame at the continental level during the recent African Union Summit”, Mr. Nshimirimana said with pride, a sign that denotes that God answers the prayers of Burundians. It is not only that, he added, Burundi occupies the places of choice in all the institutions of the community of East African States. Thus, he recommended to the members of the CNDD-FDD party to rely totally on God, arguing that whoever trusts in God lives in his splendor.

As for the preacher of the day, he asked everyone among the participants in the said prayer to be leaders imbued with the charism in order to better lead the people. That prayer, which took place in the premises of the paramedical school of Gitega, saw the presence of local leaders of the CNDD-FDD party, various officials of State services, representatives of religious denominations and youth affiliated to said party.
