BUBANZA February 7th (ABP) – Gender-based violence is still recorded in some localities of Bubanza province (north-west of Burundi), this was revealed in the security meeting, which was held by the governor of that province on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Bubanza commune.

Within a week, a woman from Mpanda commune was beaten and seriously injured by two men.

In Rugazi commune, a woman was seriously injured on her breast by a neighboring man while in Bubanza commune, women beaten by their husbands are still visible, as well as spouses who do not agree on the proper management of family income. There are also family abandonments, the case of Musigati commune where men abandon their restricted families and migrate to the Imbo plain and Cibitoke province to marry other women.

Faced with those cases of violence, the governor of Bubanza province, Cléophas Nizigiyimana, asks the victims to report the case in real time so that the perpetrators are punished in accordance with the law. He calls on the people of that province to overcome laziness for increase in production. Furthermore, he invites the various heads of provincial services to offer good services. The other appeal was that of maintaining peace and tightening security, pillars of sustainable development.
