BUBANZA February 1st (ABP) – The pooling of arable land, for a crop deemed profitable, depending on the locality, is one of the factors for the increase in agricultural production. This was said on Saturday January 28, 2023 by the governor of Bubanza province during the harvesting of maize grown on an area of 66 hectares, in the valleys of Nyabikenke and Ruhora where sugar cane was formerly grown.

On that area, the communal agronomist indicated that the expected harvest is estimated at more than 220 tons of maize.

As for the governor of Bubanza province, Cléophas Nizigiyimana, he indicated that the pooling of land is of paramount importance. He cited the facilitation of supervision by agricultural technicians, the support in chemical fertilizers, insecticides, and those fields serve as a good reference for others. The governor of Bubanza continued to say that the other added value is the non-exploitation of traders in terms of purchase prices. He called on those farmers to organize themselves into a cooperative and to already think about the unit for transforming that maize into flour and other derivatives. He also recommended to farmers to manage the harvest well, and to start sowing as soon as possible for cropping season B, while thinking about keeping peace and tightening security, which, according to him, remain major pillars of development.
