The Vice President has taken part in the tree-growing work on the Muyange hill

BURURI January 27th (ABP) – The Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, Prosper Bazombanza, participated on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in the planting of eucalyptus trees on Muyange hill, Munini zone in Bururi commune, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Some 8,500 eucalyptus plants have been transplanted to the Kibimbi mountain range which will soon be among the protected areas, said the provincial governor, Léonidas Bandenzamaso.

In his speech, the Vice President of the Republic indicated that this trip is part of the logic of supporting the efforts and initiatives of development of the people on the field. He clarified that the tree growing program on all hills is to protect the environment and water sources. He asked the people to draw contour lines on the hills in order to avoid erosion. He winked at the new village mediators to be real mediators by settling conflicts in society without any financial conditions imposed on the parties in conflict. The Vice President of the Republic asked people still living under straw roofs to make an effort to cover their houses with iron sheets or tiles. He reminded the entire population that, from now on, no one will build a house in a place with an urban vocation without obtaining the building permit.
