BUBANZA November 14th (ABP) – The village administrators of the Bubanza commune (North-West of Burundi) are called upon to sensitize their leaders, in favor of joining the community health mutual, we learned, Friday, November 11 during the sensitization workshop on joining the community health mutual, which was organized by the provincial manager of the Permanent Executive Secretariat of the National Commission for Social Protection and the regional manager of FEMUSCABU (the Federation of Health Mutuals Health of Coffee Growers in Burundi).

In that workshop, various presentations showed that in Bubanza commune, from the year 2020 to the present day, only 219 households, made up of 1135 beneficiaries, have already joined the community health mutual. This membership was made within the Federation of Coffee Growers’ Health Mutuals (FEMUSCABU).

The provincial head of the Permanent Executive Secretariat of the National Social Protection Commission (SEP/CNPS), Rémy Nkengurutse, and the regional head of FEMUSCABU, consider this rate of membership of the community health mutual to be low because, according to them, there is no does not exceed 2%, to see the total of households in this commune of Bubanza.

Mr. Nkengurutse said that the Medical Assistance Card, CAM, should be used by vulnerable people only, because, he explained, others remain a burden for the State, which supports their medical care, when they are able to afford the membership fees for the community health mutual.

He called on hill administrators, heads of cooperatives and others, to make their own the awareness of their leaders, in favor of joining the community health mutual, and to set a good example by joining, because, – he says, without good health, development remains impossible.
