The President of the Republic met with the Minister for External Relations and Cooperation of South Africa

BUJUMBURA November 9th (ABP) – The President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye received on Saturday, November 5, 2022, Naledi Pandor, the South African Minister for External Relations and Cooperation. According to the president’s spokesman, Alain Diomede Nzeyimana, she was the bearer of the invitation from the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to make a state visit there. This audience comes after the Ministers of External Relations of Burundi and South Africa held a meeting of the bipartite commission to guide areas of cooperation between the two countries.

In that regard, it was agreed that South Africa will support Burundi in the growth-enhancing sectors of agriculture and livestock by providing all their expertise in these areas. The mining sector will also be affected. The objective is to extract and exploit and process the minerals and export the finished products elsewhere, according to Mr. Nzeyimana.

In addition, South Africa is committed to training doctors and nurses in the health sector. South Africans also intend to learn French from Burundians while inviting Burundians to learn English at home.
