BUJUMBURA October 17th (ABP) – The International Organization for Migrants (IOM) granted on Friday October 14, 2022 a donation of 15 beds and 15 mattresses to the Gatumba hospital located in Mutimbuzi commune, Bujumbura province (west of Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The representative of the IOM, Dr. Richard Maniratunga, indicated that this donation granted to that hospital comes to meet the need expressed by the doctor of the health province of Bujumbura, Dr. Joël Nibigira. He added that it will be beneficial for the people of Gatumba and those who cross the border from the Democratic Republic of Congo to seek treatment in Gatumba.

He promised to add more beds and mattresses in the near future.

The governor of Bujumbura province, Dr. Désiré Nsengiyumva, thanked the IOM for that donation and asked that it remain alongside that province which is full of health centers with meager resources and a population in difficulty to get treatment.

He also pleaded for the Warubondo village in Vugizo, a locality on the border with the DRC and whose poor population finds it difficult to seek treatment, to be equipped with a health center.
