KARUSI September 19th (ABP) – The President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye calls for the combined efforts of everyone, particularly young people, whom he considers a cornerstone for the economic recovery of Burundi. That came out of the second edition of the national forum of young intellectuals organized at the Rusi regional multi-sector learning center in Shombo commune on September 15-16, 2022.
The second edition of the national forum of young intellectuals was an exchange session on the game of young people after a year and a half of the first edition of the national forum of young intellectuals according to the President of the Republic. The young people played their game, the adults, as spectators, attended the game and gave very good marks to those young people and I congratulate them, he added.
The young people currently in action have lived through a painful story, but this is the time for consolation, said Evariste Ndayishimiye. They need sufficient means for the development of the country in general and the empowerment of young people in particular during this period of transformation of the Burundian nation, he indicated.
Burundi has enough assets for its development, in particular its hard-working people, its natural potential and the moralization sessions organized by the government with the aim of awakening its conscience, pointed out the President of the Republic. The country registers more than 320,000 young graduates and unemployed non-professionals who must be involved in development, he announced. Thus, the construction of the regional multi-sector learning center of Rusi is one of the first solutions because, in fact, instead of training young civil servants, the center will train young professionals.
With the PAEEJ, economic autonomy and jobs are very possible because the order of command of the young people is already fixed according to the President of the Republic. The PAEEJ represents the General Staff, the young people trained at a high level are the generals, those trained at a higher level are the junior officers, those trained at a low level are the non-commissioned officers while the uneducated are the men of troop, demonstrated Evariste Ndayishimiye. He requested the intervention of international organizations and friendly countries in the national development program based on youth.
During that second edition of the national forum of young intellectuals, the PAEEJ coordinator spoke about the main components of that program initiated by the government to solve the problem of unemployment and which is a year and a half old. Those are the capacity building of young people, youth entrepreneurship and the professional integration of young people.
During that period of work, the PAEEJ would have succeeded at more than 90%, a note confirmed by the President of the Republic Evariste Ndayishimiye. The program is experiencing difficulties noted by the coordinator, namely the strengthening of the capacities of the 18 provincial coaches and the 118 communal coaches already on site, and their means of transport.
