BUJUMBURA August 24th (ABP) – Farmers in Nyabiraba commune, Bujumbura province (western Burundi) say it is unusual to see hail damage crops in the summer period. The statement was made on Monday after rain mixed with hail damaged irrigated bean and cassava crops on Sunday. According to the communal administrator, Mr. Ferdinand Simbananiye, that climatic hazard affected the Nyabiraba, Kinyami and Musenyi villages. The people, who were already accustomed to cultivation in summer by irrigation, do not know where to turn.
