BUJUMBURA August 22nd (ABP) – The MPs met in plenary session on Friday August 19, 2022, at the Kigobe hemicycle, to analyze and adopt the senate amendments relating to the bill amending law number 1/ 35 of December 31, 2014 on the organic framework of religious denominations, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
The chairman of the commission of the national assembly in charge of good governance and privatization, honorable Claude Nahayo, pointed out that the articles of the said bill which were the subject of substantive and formal amendments are the articles 3, 4, 5, 8, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 28, 42, 45, 49, 50, 54, 58, and 62 as well as at the level of the titles of chapters III and VIII.
As for the amendments of form, it concerns thirteen articles, namely article 5 letter f where it is a question of replacing “of which” by “to which” and deleting the “e” on the word “affiliated”, article 8 in the first line where it is a question of replacing the group of words “religious movements and religious organizations” by “religious organizations and movements” and in its 3rd line, when it comes to replacing “d apostrophe” by ” à”, article 15 letter n and p, article 18 point b, article 22 paragraph 2, article 23, article 28, article 42 first and 2nd line letter d, article 45 first line, article 49, article 54 paragraph 1 and 4, article 58 second line.
The substantive amendments concern nine articles of the said bill, namely article 3 letter b, 4 letter g and h, article 5 letter d, 16 paragraph 3, 20 paragraph 1 and 2, 22 paragraph 1, 50 second line where it is a question of replacing “those” by “those”, of replacing the word “religious organizations or movements” by religious”, article 54 paragraphs 3 and 4 and article 62 where it is a question of moving article 62 and put it after article 67; article 63 becomes article 62, article 64 becomes article 63, article 65 becomes 64, 66 becomes 65 and article 67 becomes 66.
The members of the lower house of parliament accepted the amendments of the senate in relation to the bill amending law number 1/35 of December 31, 2014 on the organic framework of religious denominations except article 4 of that law.
