MAKAMBA August 16th (ABP) – The Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and the Media, Mrs. Léocadie Ndacayisaba, paid  a visit , on Friday August 12, 2022, to  the decentralized services of the said ministry, including the National Postal Authority, the ONATEL, the telecentre and Eagle Sport FM radio broadcasting from the headquarters of Makamba province.

The objective of that visit was to inquire about the state of play of the achievements of those services as well as the problems encountered in the accomplishment of their missions. Ms. Ndacayisaba said that this visit was aimed at encouraging community radios in neighboring regions where there is interference from radios from other countries. For her, community radios sensitize the people on the ways and means to develop and put into practice the directives of the authority without forgetting the reinforcement of culture and mores. She asked the journalists of those community radios to help the people achieve their dreams by listening to their grievances, in short, their needs.

Asked whether media pluralism would be a problem, this minister indicated that with this pluralism the people receive diversified information, through well-trained journalists, with a view to developing the country. She asks journalists to comply with the law governing the press in Burundi while revealing that the law on online media is being drafted and will soon be promulgated.
