BUJUMBURA July 8th (ABP) – The provincial local solidarity committee expanded to communal administrators met on Wednesday July 6 at the headquarters of Mutimbuzi commune to assess the Day celebrated last year with the aim of preparing to celebrate it this year, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The governor’s socio-cultural adviser, Mr. Symphorie Banciriminsi, said that the local solidarity Day was well celebrated in Bujumbura province (western Burundi) and this province was ranked first at the national level for the collection of food and non-food items to help the needy.

He criticized the fact that there were communal administrators who did not follow the recommendations of the provincial committee and who distributed perishable and non-perishable food at the same time.

Reports of collection and distribution must be addressed to the provincial committee, recommended Mr. Banciriminsi. He urged the members of the communal committees for the collection and management of food and non-food items to manage stocks as a good father and to ensure that the province does not lose the first place it won last year at the national level.

With regard to strategies to maximize collections, participants recommended that there be strong awareness in State services and to take advantage of the harvest period.

The village leaders, the heads of 10 houses (nyumba kumi) and the collection committees must work in collaboration without forcing and that each one contributes over their conviction.
