MURAMVYA June 20th (ABP) – A prayer of thanksgiving began on Thursday June 16 in the capital of Muramvya province (center-west of Burundi) to celebrate the second anniversary of the inauguration of President Evariste Ndayishimiye in head of Burundi.

The prayers and the speeches marking the beginning of those prayers were opened by a mass of thanksgiving celebrated by the Archbishop of Bujumbura Mgr Gérvais Banshimiyubusa in the church of the parish Mother of the Good Council of Muramvya in the presence of the presidential couple , of the high authorities of the country in this case the president of the senate, the vice-president, the Burundian ombudsman and the secretary general of the CNDD-FDD party as well as other officials from all over the country, noted the ‘ABP on site.

In his message of congratulations, the Archbishop of Bujumbura, Msgr. Gervais Banshimiyubusa pointed out that the Christians of the Catholic Church of Burundi always pray for the President of the Republic to succeed in his mission to lead the country. Archbishop Gérvais Banshimiyubusa thanked God for protecting the Burundians leading the number one and his family. He asked Christians to take heart that the prayer of thanksgiving is answered. Bishop Banshimiyubusa also called on Christians not to adopt the behavior of Pharisees who thought themselves above their peers, he stressed.

In the afternoon, the ceremonies continued at the royal stadium of Muramvya with a long parade led by the presidential couple and the country’s senior executives before settling in the grandstand. The wife of the Head of State, Angeline Ndayishimiye, in her prayer, warmly thanked the Lord who created the good country Burundi and who gave him as president, Evariste Ndayishimiye to lead it. Angeline Ndayishimiye begged God to send his Angels to continue to protect the country, its leaders and its faithful.

In his sermon, the Reverend Pastor Juvénal Bazishaka, basing himself on the writings of the coachbuilders, urged the present assembly to always work for the development of the service entrusted to him and above all to remember that the place occupied is suitable for someone another to succeed him.

Burundian Head of State Evariste Ndayishimiye in his speech, thanked God who stayed by his side during the two years he has just finished at the head of the country. He clarified that only God leads him for the success of his mission to lead the Burundians. President Evariste Ndayishimiye also specified that this three-day prayer of thanksgiving is special, given that he is at the head of a country plagued by various ills, including poverty, officials who are still corrupt and other wrongdoers.

That prayer of thanksgiving for the two-year anniversary of the inauguration of the Head of State should guide Burundians to ask forgiveness in case of bewilderment and pray for the return of Burundians exiled because of times of hardship that the country has known. Laziness and evil spirits are to be eradicated if we beg the Almighty, added President Ndayishimiye. He pointed out that Burundi has experienced a good diplomatic warming in recent days. Foreign countries are beginning to understand that they must renew relations with Burundi.

Note that the theme chosen for this period of national prayers in Muramvya province is, “Produce therefore fruit which confirms your change of attitude,” Matthew 3-8.
