Project to build a shopping center on the site of the former central market of Bujumbura was one of the points on the agenda of the Cabinet meeting

BUJUMBURA May 19th (ABP) – The Cabinet met on Wednesday May 18 at the Ntare Rushatsi presidential palace, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye. On the agenda were 9 items including 3 bills and 2 draft decrees.

The Cabinet meeting examined the bill revising the law of 4 December 2008 on public finances. The second bill concerns the ratification by Burundi of the assistance agreement between the United States of America and Burundi to facilitate a partnership aimed at transformation that promotes the sustainable development of Burundi. The 3rd focused on Burundi’s ratification of the bilateral agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Burundi signed on November 10, 2021 in Dubai.

The 2 draft decrees that were analyzed relate to the mission, organization and functioning of the regulatory authority for social protection programs and systems; as well as that relating to the revision of the decree of August 22, 2012 on the creation, organization, composition, mission and functioning of the National Commission for Social Protection (CNPS).

In addition to this, the Council of Ministers analyzed the financing agreement for the Rural Entrepreneurship Development Program (PRODER) between Burundi and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Before moving on to miscellaneous, two files were also analyzed. That is the file relating to the construction project of a shopping center on the site of the former central market of Bujumbura and that relating to the land of the former FFB.
