GITEGA April 29th (ABP) – The Minister of Public Health and the Fight against AIDS, Mrs. Sylvie Nzeyimana, proceeded, on Wednesday April 27, 2022, to the opening of a CAMEBU agency (central purchase of essential drugs, medical devices and laboratory products and materials from Burundi), in Gitega (center of the country), the political capital of the country.

In her speech for the occasion, Mrs. Nzeyimana, explained that the gesture made falls within the framework of bringing state services closer to the beneficiaries, as recommended by the responsible and hardworking government, initiated by the Burundian Head of State, Mr. Evariste. Ndayishimiye. She said that this will therefore have a positive impact on applicants for CAMEBU services who came from within the country.

Moreover, said Minister Nzeyimana, it is easy to serve Burundi being in Gitega, the center of the country and political capital. Hence, she continued, the service seekers mentioned above, in that case, the health districts and hospitals close to the CAMEBU agency in Gitega will now observe the reduction in expenditure on the transport and stay they made in Bujumbura (the headquarters of CAMEBU); and therefore, a reduction will also be observed in the cost of drugs.

Ms. Nzeyimana reassured that her ministry will spare no effort to be close to the population, recalling, for information, the recent installation of 37 communal hospitals.

Soon, she added, 37 other communal hospitals will open their doors. Finally, Minister Nzeyimana asked the provincial authority to make land available to the CAMEBU agency for the construction of its infrastructure, arguing that it is, in the meantime, in buildings that it will rent.

The governor of the province of Gitega, Mr. Venant Manirambona, expressed his deep thanks for this initiative of the ministry having public health in its attributions, while promising to invest in the availability of the land to the CAMEBU agency.
