BUJUMBURA April 7th (ABP) – The Cabinet met on Tuesday April 5, 2022 under the chairmanship of the Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, with 9 items on the agenda, including the memorandum of understanding on the implementation of a rural electrification program in the provinces and villages of Burundi between the government of Burundi and the company VIRUNGA POWER to be developed by the Minister of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines.

The Minister of East African Community Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture had to present the sectoral policy document of that ministry.

The Minister of Livestock, Environment, Agriculture had to develop, on his part, the draft decree on the creation, missions, organization and functioning of the Burundi Authority for the Regulation of Veterinary Products, Pesticides and Food (ABREVPA), the report on the management of the Maramvya zone in Mutimbuzi commune, Bujumbura province. He had also to present the draft ministerial ordinance setting the minimum level of compensation rates for buildings by nature and by incorporation in the event of expropriation for public utility.

In addition, the Minister of Public Service, Labor and Employment had to present the draft joint ordinance regulating the employment of foreigners and citizens of member States of the East African Community in Burundi and the draft ministerial ordinance revising ordinance No. 630/1 of January 5, 1980 regulating child labor.

The draft ministerial ordinance on the conditions for authorizing the opening or operation and renewal of a private employment agency was also to be developed by the said minister.

The report of the commission responsible for drawing up the roadmap for the implementation of the recommendations made by the Cabinet on September 29, 2021 on ONATEL’s recovery measures, which was to be presented by the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media.

Note that for the miscellaneous items, there were the note on the importation of construction machinery, the note on the construction of integrated villages and the note on the interconnection of members of the government. Those notes were to be respectively presented by the Minister of Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing, the Minister of the Interior, Community Development and Public Security and the Minister of Communication, Information Technologies and Media.
