Towards the authorization of the participation of the BRB in the share capital of the stock exchange

GITEGA March 17th (ABP) – The Burundi Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, chaired the Cabinet meeting on March 16, 2022, in his palace in Gitega, the political capital of the country (central Burundi). Ten points were on the agenda of the Cabinet meeting, according to a note from the general secretariat of the government, including, among others, the draft decree authorizing the participation of the Bank of Republic (BRB) in the share capital of the stock exchange and the collaboration strategy between the Ministry of Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing through the Road Agency of Burundi and the hillside cooperatives in the manual maintenance of roads.

The two presentations were developed respectively by the services of the Presidency of the Republic of Burundi and the Minister of Infrastructure, Equipment and Social Housing. The bill on the status of parliamentary staff was mentioned by the Minister of Justice while his counterpart in charge of Hydraulics, Energy and Mines made a presentation on the draft mining policy of Burundi.

In turn, the Minister of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning made three communications, one on the draft decree on the creation, powers, composition and operating rules of the National Statistics Information Committee ( CNIS), the other on the draft decree on the creation, powers, composition and rules of operation of the national statistical authority: National Institute of Statistics of Burundi (INSBU) and the third on the progress report of the commission responsible for the effective implementation of one of the decisions and recommendations of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of January 14, 2022 on the Ex EPB and GPSB file.

As for the Minister in charge of the Environment, Agriculture and Livestock, he made two presentations, one relating to the Lake Tanganyika coastal development plan; and the other on the Coffee Development Board (ODECA) company regulations. Finally, the last point in relation to the support project for the foundations of the digital economy in Burundi was developed by the Minister of Communication, Information Technology and the Media.

In the miscellaneous, there was only one point relating to the evolution of the railway construction project reported by the Minister in charge of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.
