Towards the normalization of diplomatic relations between Burundi and Rwanda

GITEGA March 16th (ABP) – The Burundian Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, received in audience, behind closed doors, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, in his presidential palace in Gitega (in the center of the country), successively American investors operating in the electrification sector and a high-level delegation from the Republic of Rwanda, led by the Rwandan minister in charge of national defense.

At the end of the interviews, the spokesperson for the Burundian Head of State, Mrs. Evelyne Butoyi, revealed their content to the media.

American investors grouped in a company called “Virunga Power”, based in Kenya, discussed with President Ndayishimiye on their support in supporting the Burundian government in its desire for rural electrification, said Mrs. Butoyi.

As for the second audience, she said that the Rwandan delegation carried the message of the President of the Rwandan Republic to the President of the Republic of Burundi.

Ms. Butoyi said that the two parties discussed the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries and between the two brotherly people.
