GITEGA February 21st (ABP) – The governor of Gitega province (center of the country), Mr. Venant Manirambona, urged on Wednesday, February 16th 2022, administrative officials at all levels, those of public and private services and the people of Gitega commune to work in accordance with the prescriptions of the “responsible and hardworking” government initiated by the Head of State, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye.

By “responsible government”, Mr. Manirambona implied that one must serve as a good father. One must therefore serve with compassion, respect and loyalty; and displaying self-sacrifice, when needed, he explained.

As for the “hardworking government”, he said that it is a matter of rolling up one’s sleeves to work assiduously in order to bring their households, territorial entities and even their country out of poverty and to engage them rather on the path of development, he explained.

To achieve that, Mr. Manirambona recommended that everyone change their mentality. For more precision, he indicated that “we must break with certain degrading practices”, citing among others, corruption, arrogance, idleness, injustice, fraudulence, to name but a few.

Indicatively, he was indignant at officials who give a bad reception to people who seek help from them, law enforcement officials indulging in corruption, traders who win fraudulently, heads of families who engage in concubine behavior, State officials who violate labor regulations, and so on.

When presenting their grievances, the speakers residing in the urban center of Gitega wished the improvement of the road system, the respect for the prices of transport and the products of the BRARUDI, and putting traffic lights on the interurban roads.

Other people mentioned the slowness of the courts in processing judgments, land disputes, household disputes, and so forth.

The provincial governor, supported by officials of the jurisdictions of Gitega, provided answers to certain questions.

To the remaining questions, he promised to forward them to the competent authorities and afterward, he concluded, he will have what to say.
