BUJUMBURA January 25th (ABP) – The Gladiators and Urunani teams were crowned champions, thus winning the Super Cup trophies of the tournament called Pesaflash, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.
On the grounds of the sports department on Sunday, January 23, 2022, a field full to bursting, the atmosphere of basketball fans was at the top.
The first final opposed, on the women’s side, the Gazelles and the Gladiators, two traditional rivals and the Gladiators beat the Gazelles by a light score of 50 points to 47.
The highly anticipated match for the second men’s final was between Urunani and Dynamo. The match started with a clear superiority of the Urunani team over Dynamo because at halftime the score was 52 points to 31.
In the third quarter – time, Dynamo came back with a new breath, reducing the difference to such an extent that at the 4th minute of the end of the match, the score was 70 to 61points and the match ended with a score of 95points. 73 in favor of Urunani which had just offered itself a 5th trophy out of the six during the tournaments organized by the Burundi Basketball Federation (FEBABU).
It was an opportunity for Urunani team player Elvis Hakizimana aka Gafyisi to end his career as a basketball player with that team for 20 years.
The Urunani Club committee presented him with a car worth 15 million Burundian francs as recognition for his loyal service to the club, the leader of the Urunani team Mr. Aimé Nkonyereza gave him the documents and the keys to the vehicle while FEBABU gave it fuel for 6 months and a certificate of honor.
The emotional beneficiary burst into tears before regaling with club members, family members, fans and former teammates in immense joy.
