Opening of the week dedicated to the fighter in Mpanda commune

BUBANZA November 17th (ABP) – The week dedicated to the combatant was opened on Tuesday, November 16 in Mpanda commune of Bubanza province (north-west of Burundi), in Gifugwe village where there is a monument of 14 graves of ex- CNDD-FDD combatants. The festivities were enhanced by the First Lady of the Republic of Burundi, Mrs. Angéline Ndayishimiye, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In his speech, the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD Party, Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo, said that we must immortalize those who sacrificed themselves for lasting peace. He thus demanded that the armed crisis that Burundi has endured be a lesson for future generations to achieve “never again”.

According to the Secretary General of the CNDD-FDD party, there is a project to write down the painful past of Burundi, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Different authorities took part in that event, including the Vice-President of the Republic, the two presidents of parliament, the Burundian ombudsman and the wife of the hero of democracy, Mrs. Laurence Ndadaye.
