Return of the President of the Republic of Burundi from the United Arab Emirates

BUJUMBURA November 15th (ABP) – The Burundi Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, has since Monday, November 8, 2021paid a visit to the United Arab Emirates in Dubai to discuss with the leaders of this country, and participate in the exhibition “expo -Dubai 2020”. That visit was also to explain to investors from the United Arab Emirates to come and invest in Burundi.

Regarding diplomatic relations between the two countries, the deputy spokesman of the Burundi Head of State, Alain Diomède Nzeyimana, indicated that the Burundian number one expressed the wish to open an embassy in the United Arab Emirates, adding that the reciprocity was accepted. The deputy spokesman for the Head of State also reported that the Burundian number one has signed agreements with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates concerning trade and technical service. He also underlined the establishment of the joint committee which will prepare projects and see how they can   put into execution.

With regard to investors, Mr. Alain Diomede Nzeyimana reported that there were five investors who agreed to present their projects to the Burundi Head of State generally in areas of interest to the Burundian nation, in particular the area of agriculture and livestock, trade and transport as well as infrastructure.

The deputy spokesperson for the Burundi Head of State recalled that Burundi has a project to expand the Bujumbura “Melchior Ndadaye” airport as well as the construction of another airport in Bugendana in Gitega province.

Regarding Expo-Dubai 2020, the deputy spokesperson of the President of the Republic indicated that the latter was well received, stressing that the Burundi Head of State took that opportunity to thank the Burundians who live in Dubai for the way in which she welcomed the speech given by the President of the Republic.

Mr. Nzeyimana said that the Burundi Head of State visited the place where the history of the Emirates is located while explaining that it is a country which started from zero but which is reaching a stage of conquering the world. He also said that Evariste Ndayishimiye visited a mosque that was built on the place of the old Path of Tolerance, specifying that this shows that the United Arab Emirates is a country that welcomes everyone. He recalled that the Burundi Head of State has asked the ministries and other state bodies that are concerned by the projects that have been discussed with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates to prepare a book that shows well-studied projects.

He also reported that the Burundi Head of State took that opportunity to invite the leaders of the United Arab Emirates to come and participate in the 60th anniversary of the independence of Burundi, which was accepted by them.
