Provincial administrative and school authorities in Kayanza have indicated that the day comes at a time when Kayanza province has made a giant leap in terms of success in national exams despite the challenges that plague the education sector in that province, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In their respective speeches, the provincial director of education in Kayanza, Mr. Désiré Hatungimana, and the provincial governor, Mr. Rémy Cishahayo, stressed that the celebration of the world teacher’s day comes as that province comes to take a step forward in the national competition of the 9th year where she went from the 11th place in the national ranking during the school year 2019-2020 to the fifth during the school year 2020-2021. To continue in the same vein, Governor Cishahayo asked the communal administrators to lend, whenever necessary, the vehicles to the communal directors of education for the smooth running of the planned school activities.

However, the two aforementioned authorities deplored the misconduct of certain teachers who sleep with the students they are called upon to educate or impregnate them.

Speaking in turn, the chairman of the coalition of teachers’ unions (COSESONA), Mr. Victor Ndabaniwe, also returned to the scandalous behavior of these teachers who do not properly fulfill the mission of teaching their assigned. He deplored the attitude of the teachers who coin the points, those who come to school being intoxicated and those who sleep with the students or make them pregnant.

To cope with all those behaviors which, according to him, tarnish the image of the teacher when the latter should serve as a model and mirror in school as elsewhere, he asked the provincial authorities, both administrative and educational, to Kayanza to work in symbiosis to take restrictive measures against all these teachers who tarnish the image of the latter by not complying with professional ethics and deontology.

For her part, the Director of Teachers at the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research, Mrs. Rose Ndikumana, welcomed the step taken by COSESONA in terms of teacher development and took the opportunity to ask teachers to get together in cooperatives or associations in order to contract loans that will allow them to carry out strong projects.

Note that 18 teachers who stood out more than others in the education sector received awards.
