Government encourages investors to set up factories

MAKAMBA August 26th (ABP) – The Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism, Mrs. Capitoline Niyonizigiye, on Tuesday August 24 visited the factory that extracts organic patchouli oil in Musatwe, on the Mvugo village in Nyanza-lac commune, Makamba province (southern Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

Mrs. Niyonizigiye encouraged the businessman who set up that factory because, she said, he contributed in creating jobs and in earning foreign exchange from the exports that this factory will operate.

According to the general manager of that factory, Mr. Albert Ndereyimana, it employs 200 workers. Also, he said, 1,500 families have increased their income through the cultivation of patchouli that the company buys.

In addition, he said, they will produce fry that will be implanted in the ponds of different cooperatives in the provinces Bubanza, Cibitoke, Gitega, Karusi and Ngozi in order to increase fish production in Burundi, in within the framework of the fish farming project.

The Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism and his delegation visited the patchouli dryers, the place of extraction of the oil as well as the place which will be the base of the production of fry.
