CANKUZO August 5th (ABP) – Preparations for the Solidarity Day in Burundi are well underway in Cankuzo province (eastern Burundi), the governor of Cankuzo province (eastern Burundi), Mr. Boniface Banyiyezako, told a check by ABP in an interview he gave to him on Monday August 2.

As the day will be celebrated on Saturday the 7th, Governor Banyiyezako has indicated that the collection of aid for the vulnerable is going well in all the communes of his province.

A press release calling on all communes to collect aid for SOS orphans in Muyinga province had been issued previously, he said, adding that this appeal has been respected and that all communes are working.

In addition, committees of different provincial hierarchies responsible for collecting food and non-food items have already been set up throughout the province.

All natives of the province are called upon to contribute through accounts opened at Interbank and COOPEC Cankuzo. They will give the payment slips to the collection committees of their native villages because, he said, all the contributions will be collected, village by village, then sent to the commune which will be responsible for the distribution of aid to the vulnerable identified.
