BUJUMBURA August 5th (ABP) – The Association for the Memory of the Victims of the Insurrectional Movement of 2015 (APM 2015) organized on Monday August 2, 2021, in Bujumbura, the ceremonies marking the 6th anniversary of the assassination of Lieutenant-General Adolphe Nshimirimana, who was killed on August 2, 2015 under the theme: “Remember, unite and renew yourself”, a check by ABP revealed.

Those ceremonies began with a peace march from RN1 to the Gare du Nord roundabout, where Lieutenant-General Adolphe Nshimirimana was assassinated. Members of the 2015 APM 2015 members laid bouquets there and at the grave of the deceased.

APM 2015 legal representative Henri Hatungimana indicated that this association commemorates each year the assassination of the victims of the 2015 insurgency and then that of Lieutenant-General Adolphe Nshimirimana, who died six years ago.

On that occasion, he said that the general objective of that commemoration is to raise awareness among the people of Burundi and the international community on the value of life and of humanity, to renew its commitment to protect and ensure respect for fundamental human rights.

He added that the members of APM 2015 gathered to remember the atrocities committed during the insurgency that led to the disappearance of Lieutenant-General Adolphe Nshimirimana against the innocent people, and also to renew their resolve to ensure that this does not happen again.

During an interview, the leader and legal representative of the human rights league “Izere Ntiwihebure”, Mr. Francois Xavier Ndaruzaniye, said Lieutenant-General Adolphe Nshimirimana had a patriotic spirit.
