GITEGA July 23rd (ABP) – The Head of State of Burundi, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, opened on Thursday in the House based in the political capital, Gitega (central Burundi), the government retreat works during which members of the Government will analyze the detailed plan for the implementation of the national budget of 2021/2022 as well as the priority actions that each ministry will carry out for the well-being of the people.
In his opening speech, the President of the Republic of Burundi indicated that among his ardent wishes is the increase in revenues that enter the public treasury in order to have a sufficient budget to implement the actions planned for development of the entire population. He meant that the revenues which were previously subject to economic embezzlement must now enter the public treasury. He continued to say the revenues which enter the public treasury must be allocated to the actions planned in the various sectors for the well-being of the people.
In addition, he explained, the national budget is a capital which comes from the taxes and duties paid by the people and therefore must be used for the implementation of the actions planned for the interest of the whole population. He indicated that his wish is that at the end of this year they can draw up a consistent assessment of the development achievements of the people. That is why during that retreat, the members of the Government will analyze the sectoral actions and the budget that will be used.
Thus, the topics to be addressed include the module that to be presented by the Minister in charge of Finance on the mode of management of the national budget. Other ministers have, in turn, to present the action plans of their respective ministries.
The Head of State said that the expected result is that at the end of this year, each ministry records better performance responding to the development needs of the population.
