KAYANZA July 12th (ABP) – The Ruganza Catholic parish of the diocese of Ngozi, Kayanza province (north), celebrated its diamond jubilee on Saturday. The President of the Republic, Mr. Evariste Ndayishimiye, honored the festivities with his presence. The ceremonies coincided with the ordination of 10 new priests and nine deacons as well as the decoration of 9 acolytes and 10 readers of the Ngozi diocese.

The parish priest of Ruganza, Father Anselme Cintije, reported that his parish today reaches 135,447 Christians since it opened the doors and has already given birth to other parishes such as Jene, Rwegura and the recent Christ Roi parish which now has 39,000 faithful.

In turn, the bishop of the diocese of Ngozi, Mgr. Georges Bizimana, said that the celebration of the diamond jubilee is a favorable moment for that parish to look back on the achievements and to self-assess to remedy the challenges encountered.

He invited the new shepherds to give their all for the benefit of Christians. He asked Christians to support the divine word with prayer and to welcome the priests who are like a gift according to Bishop Bizimana.
