The Speaker of NA has joined the people of Kayogoro commune in the works to draw the contour lines

MAKAMBA July 9th (ABP) – In the continuity of his visit to Makamba province (southern Burundi), the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA), Mr. Daniel Gélase Ndabirabe along with MPs elected in the Makamba constituency, joined the people of Kayogoro commune at Butare village in the works of drawing the contour lines of about 430 m, a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

In his speech, Mr. Ndabirabe asked the population to get down to work in the fields so that Makamba province is the breadbasket of Burundi because this province has a lot of untapped arable land. He also asked the people to come together in associations to create jobs, citing for example, training security or sanitation companies.

He called on the village leaders to take the lead in income-generating activities on their respective villages.

The governor of Makamba province, Mrs. Françoise Ngozirazana, in her welcoming speech, indicated that the people are works in drawing contour lines to protect cultivable land in order to increase production. She said that the province of Makamba collected more than 1000 tons of corn grains, the commune of Kayogoro alone collected more than 600 tons of maize.
