BUJUMBURA July 6th (ABP) – Cash matches for quarter-final playoffs continued Sunday on July 4th at the Basketball Field of the Department of Sports, in Bujumbura City Council. There was talk of two teams who will join the qualified teams last weekend for the semi-finals that will be played at Ngozi (northern Burundi), a check on the site by ABP has revealed.

The tournament was organized by the rising generation, in collaboration with foundation Pax, in memory of President Pierre Nkurunziza and in a sign of solidarity with his family, said the Apostle Jean Paul Manirakiza who piloted the event.

Indeed, the Brothers teams of Cankuzo and Turget of Ngozi, who crossed the iron in the first game, posted a beautiful show with a tight score in the first two shifts. It’s up to the fourth quarter of the game that the Cankuzo Brothers club dominated the game, which gave it a victory over a score of 87 points against 76 points of Turget, qualifying for the semi-finals.

The most expected match was the one that opposed the Kern and Urunani teams, two clubs of the capital. It was a balanced match. Both teams tried to do their best, with a great encouragement of supporters of the Urunani team. The latter took over every third quarter-arrives, but with a light score 13-12; 25-20; 38-33. The trend has spilled up towards the end of the match because the Kern club took things in hand and the match ended with a joint score of 54 points everywhere. It was necessary to enter an extension that allowed the Urunani team to win over a score of 66 points against 62 of Kern. Urunani has thus joined the three teams qualified for the semifinals, namely Young Eagles of Gitega (Center), Dynamo from Bujumbura City Council (West) and Brothers of Cankuzo (East).
